QPR manager Neil Warnock has pinpointed QPR’s impressive home form as a potentially decisive factor in the Hoops’ battle to avoid the drop.
Last season, QPR lost just two games at Loftus Road, picking up 49 points out of a possible 69 to achieve the second-best home record in the league.
This helped them clinch the Championship title with a total of 88 points, four clear of second-placed Norwich City.
In an interview with Sky Sports News, former Sheffield United boss Warnock said replicating this impressive home form will be key to avoiding the drop in QPR’s first season back in the Premier League since 1996.
“I think the thing is to try to play without fear,” he told the news provider.
“We know we’re going to have one or two defeats but it’s how you bounce back – and our home record’s always been good. I’m really glad I’m in the Premier League and I’ve got to make sure whoever plays us it’s difficult for them.”
However, Warnock believes he will have to add to his squad for them to be in with a chance of staying up.
QPR are 2/1 fourth-favourites to be relegated in their first season back in the top flight, meaning a successful £25 free bet on Rangers to finish in the bottom three, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £75.
Although Warnock wants to give the players who took QPR up a chance, he says he will still add significantly to the squad to ensure it is an improvement on the title-winning team of last season.
“I’ve spoken to (Blackpool manager) Ian Holloway and he thought where he made a mistake was not getting a squad big enough by the end of August and we don’t want to make that mistake if we can help it,” he commented.
QPR start their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Bolton on August 13th.
