Aston Villa have found goals hard to come by of late, having gone three league games in a row without rippling the net. That won’t be the case when they visit West Ham’s unruly house though, and an away win is definitely the bet to take ahead of the game.
Despite that, home advantage makes the Hammers the 15/13 favourites for the win with the draw and Villa both given matching 23/10 prices.
Villa have taken seven points from their away games this season
Playing away from Villa Park has brought the best out of Paul Lambert’s side this term, with the Midlands outfit only claiming three of their 10 total league points at home.
Their away form is the fifth best in the division, with Chelsea the only side capable of stopping their points collecting mission thus far.
The love of the road isn’t a new theme for Lambert’s side. Last season his men took 21 points from their away games, which was ranked eighth best in the league.
West Ham are winless in three games at home
Sam Allardyce prides himself on strong home form, built on a sturdydefence, but neither of those values have been upheld at the Boleyn Ground recently.
Kevin Nolan’s troops have watched three goals fly into their net in the last two outings in east London. Considering they’d conceded just once in the two games prior to that shows that the wheels are wobbling loose and a fourth loss in a row will come close to blowing the bolts out all together.
Villa have gained a league-leading six points from losing positions
Should things swerve from the straight and narrow path that the previous stats suggest and West Ham take the lead, Villa are still a good bet to triumph.
They have won two matches from losing positions this term, against Arsenal and Man City, and no team has a better record in coming back from the doldrums.
