Welcome, gossip hunters, to news.bwin.com/en/’s daily transfer update, which has an unusually conclusive feel to it this morning.
Read on for the bookies’-eye-view on the latest developments.
Radamel Falcao 3/20 to be a Real Madrid player on 02/09/14
The Express may have suggested Arsenal were joining the bunfight over ‘El Tigre’, but if Italian website Calciomercato are to be believed they’re wasting their time.
It suggests that an entente loaning the Colombian hitman to Real Madrid for the seasons was inked after the Champions League draw.
Supposedly worth £20m in borrowers fees, the deal is also understood to include a compulsory purchase stipulation.
Fernando Torres 2/25 to be an AC Milan player on 02/09/14
Although a loan move is no longer thought to be on the agenda, a permanent deal to take the Spaniard to Milan is thought to be all but agreed by The Times and The Metro.
The latter publication, however, do quote Torres’ agent Antonio Sanz striking a slightly more circumspect note:
‘We will take time to reflect before giving an answer. Milan are a great side.’
Concerns over both the fitness of Diego Costa and whether or not it will be possible to land Roma’s Matteo Destro before the close of the window could yet mean that the final decision over the move still lies with the London club.
Sokratis Papasthopoulos 11/20 to be an Arsenal player on 02/09/14
The Gunners’ hankering for a centre-half from the land of Homer continues unabated after missing out on Kostas Manolas earlier in the window.
Borussia Dortmund’s Papasthopoulos is the new man on the agenda and is thought to be available, with Mats Hummels and Neven Subotic insurmountable at the heart of Die Schwarzgelben’s defence.
However, with the Mirror suggesting the Germans want £20m for their man, who shone at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, an Arsenal purchase will be contingent on a substantial reduction in price.
