Rumours have been swirling for some time regarding Borussia Dortmund duo Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, with their side’s dreadful showings in the Bundesliga this term expected to hasten the pair’s departure from the Westfalenstadion.
A new BvB name doing the rumour-mill rounds over the past week or so is full-back/winger Kevin Grosskreutz, who Arsenal made a derisory-sounding £3.7m bid for earlier this month, according to The Metro.
The Gunners will do well to land the 26-year-old for three times that amount with 18 months left on his contract; Grosskreutz played 65 times, scoring 15 goals, during Jurgen Klopp’s side’s stunningly successful double Bundesliga-winning campaigns between 2010-12.
Manchester United are also said to be monitoring developments, which will surely play into Dortmund’s hands in terms of valuation.
In other news, MK Dons’ midfield prodigy Dele Alli is reportedly on the cusp of a £4m move to Newcastle.
The 18-year-old has been linked with the great and the good of English football since breaking into the Dons’ first team nearly two-and-a-half years ago.
Liverpool were thought to be leading the race for Alli, who is a Reds fan and cites Steven Gerrard as his hero, but the Geordies have stolen a march on their rivals, or so The Daily Mail says.
It’s likely Alli will be loaned back to the League One outfit for the rest of the campaign.
Chelsea are also in the market for young talent, with Vojvodina centre-half Srdjan Babic mooted by The Star as a Jose Mourinho target in this window. The 18-year-old Serbia Under-19 regular could join countrymen Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic at Stamford Bridge.
And finally, Real Sociedad boss David Moyes may be close to pulling off his first swoop on the Premier League since taking over the Basque Country club.
Etienne Capoue has been linked with La Real in recent weeks, and a loan move for the Spurs holding-midfielder is reportedly near completion.
