Southampton will be hoping to take advantage of Harry Kane’s ankle injury when travelling to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Saints prevailed 2-1 at this venue last season and will be eyeing another upset that would all-but end Spurs’ hopes of challenging Chelsea for the title.
Trueform tips: Southampton have recovered well from a brief dip in form and clearly have the ratings to test Tottenham if at their best, so the good odds on offer for the Saints will do for us.
A Look At Tottenham’s Betting Odds
Tottenham coped with losing Kane early on in last week’s FA Cup clash with Millwall as Heung-Min Son hit a hat-trick and Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Vincent Janssen also netted in an emphatic victory.
“The performance was fantastic. It was very important for us to play well and score goals, so we are very pleased,” beamed manager Mauricio Pochettino. “A hat-trick from Son and Janssen scored – the team was good.”
Southampton will provide far more resistance than the League One Lions but Son did score against them in a 4-1 win at St Mary’s over the Christmas period and in last term’s loss to the Saints at White Hart Lane.
With 14 goals to his credit during the current campaign, 6/5 for Son to score again is the first of our Tottenham v Southampton betting tips.
A Look At Southampton’s Betting Odds
Southampton’s form has been up and down all season but they can boast high-scoring wins in their last two Premier League fixtures, putting four goals past both Sunderland and Watford on the road.
In between those victories, Saints also played some fine attacking football when they were more than a touch unfortunate to go down 3-2 to Manchester United in the EFL Cup final at Wembley.
After edging out the Hornets in a seven-goal thriller, boss Claude Puel commented: “It was important to get a good result after our big disappointment against Manchester United. It was important my players showed their character to come back from a goal down, they played directly, we kept concentration and we recovered and played good football and scored beautiful goals.”
Manolo Gabbiadini has been a great recruit while Nathan Redmond and Dusan Tadic love to get forward from midfield, so we’re taking a chance on Saints at 15/4.
TOTTENHAM 6-0 Millwall – Christian Eriksen, Heung-Min Son (3), Dele Alli, Vincent Janssen
Watford 3-4 SOUTHAMPTON – Dusan Tadic, Nathan Redmond (2), Manolo Gabbiadini
Head-to-head: Southampton 1-4 Tottenham, Tottenham 1-2 Southampton, Southampton 0-2 Tottenham, Southampton 2-2 Tottenham, Tottenham 1-0 Southampton
