5. Andre Schurrle – Chelsea
The west Londoners splashed out £18m on the German international, who scored 13 goals and made another eight in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen last year. Schurrle opened his Chelsea account in the pre-season friendly win against AC Milan and should get plenty of chances under Jose Mourinho this term, with his versatility in being able to play as a central striker or either side of a front three a big asset.
Top Goalscorer odds – 100/1
4. Ricky van Wolfswinkel – Norwich City
At 9/4 to be relegated this season and with last year’s top scorer Grant Holt sold to Wigan Athletic, Chris Hughton’s Norwich City will need Ricky van Wofswinkel to pack his shooting boots after an £8m move from Sporting Lisbon, where the young Dutch international plundered 14 league strikes in each of the last two season, averaging over a goal every two games.
Top Goalscorer odds – 80/1
3. Stevan Jovetic – Manchester City
With City wrapping up a £20m deal for 25-goal Spaniard Alvaro Negredo the same day as signing Jovetic, the former Fiorentina forward will be expected to drop deep behind a central striker at Eastlands and improve on last season’s five Serie A assists, although with 13 league goals in 2012/2013, the Montenegro international certainly knows how to find the back of the net.
Top Goalscorer odds – 28/1
2. Wilfried Bony – Swansea City
The hit and miss nature of Eredivisie strikers in the Premier League has taken up many column inches over the past decade, but with Bony’s 25 league goals firing Vitesse Arnhem into 4th place and the Europa League last time out, Swans fans will be confident that their new front man can carry on where he left off when bagging a brace against Malmo in midweek.
Top Goalscorer odds – 40/1
1. Roberto Soldado – Tottenham Hotspur
It is testament to the powers of 21-goal winger Gareth Bale that Tottenham took the battle for fourth place right down to the last game of the season without a reliable striker. Andre Villas-Boas looks to have remedied last year’s mistake, with a club record £26m swoop for former Valencia hitman Soldado and if the Spanish international can get close to his 24-goal La Liga tally this season, the long-suffering Spurs faithful may not need their heart-shaping Welshman after all.
Top Goalscorer odds – 20/1
