European sportsbook bwin has today announced an audacious bid to change the name of the international transfer window to the transfer bwindow, with the firm’s negotiators declaring their confidence in reaching a deal over the next 24 hours.
Revealed for the first time today, bwin’s proposal includes the following terms in exchange for a ‘seven-figure sponsorship agreement’:
– Transfer bwindow logos to be included in all media coverage
– International broadcasters contracted to refer to the ‘transfer bwindow’ in TV coverage
– The creation of a transfer bwindow mascot who will visit clubs on transfer deadline day
– Sponsorship of the windows with a special bwin branded gloss that will provide increased transparency
Flora Spoil, bwin’s Founder Of Original Licensing said:
“We’re determined to find creative ways to expand our sponsorship portfolio and really feel that this package will deliver
“We await a response from FIFA, but are confident of having something substantial in place before the next window.
“Needless to say, we can’t wait to see Jim White reporting on the next bwindow this summer.”
The betting firm’s president Sir Olaf Pol also expressed his delight with bwin’s latest branding move, and suggested a deal was imminent:
“bwin’s sponsorship of the transfer window will be another world-first from the boys in black and gold.
“We’ve submitted the proposal and have been told to expect a response after 12pm on Wednesday 1st April.”
