Carlos Tevez has moved closer to the exit door at the newly-named Etihad Stadium after Brazilian club Corinthians expressed an interest in signing the Argentine.
Tevez is looking to leave Manchester City in order to reunite with his family, although it was thought that a move to Spain or Italy – where he would be joined by his two children and their mother – was his most likely escape route given his wage demands and expected transfer fee.
However, ambitious Corinthians appear willing to pay more than £35 million for the 27-year-old and Kia Joorabchian, Tevez’s agent, has suggested his client would be more than happy to make the move back to his former club.
Should Tevez leave Man City it would have a significant impact on both the top goalscorer and title odds in bwin’s football betting markets.
Tevez is 8/1 joint-favourite to win the Barclays Golden Boot and his goals are expected to form the foundation of Man City’s title challenge.
The Citizens are 7/2 third-favourites to secure the Premier League crown, with a £25 free bet on this eventuality, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, set to return £112.50.
“Negotiations have already begun. Corinthians are in contact with us,” Joorabchian confirmed.
“His dream and mine is to see him back with Corinthians. He said he has a job that does not end there, he wants to return because he has the dream of winning the Copa Libertadores.
“Corinthians have made the offer, now it depends only on Manchester City. The City has to make a decision.”
Manchester City’s first game of the new Premier League season will be at the Etihad Stadium against newly-promoted Swansea on Saturday, 13th August.
Early Man City v Swansea betting makes the Citizens overwhelming 11/50 favourites to take all three points.
