It’s been tough work for punters trying to find value in away goalscorers at the Liberty this season as Swansea have conceded just twice at home in the Premier League.
But Brendan Rodgers’ side’s 4-2 defeat at Blackburn last weekend, coupled with Fulham’s confidence-boosting win against Liverpool, mean this could be the week that visiting strikers finally have something to celebrate – along with those backing them to score.
Bobby Zamora hasn’t scored since early October but is still likely to start up front and with seven goals against promoted clubs in the last two seasons remains worth backing at 6/1 to score the first goal.
His place has tended to go to Andy Johnson this season, both as a substitute and on the scoresheet, with the former Everton striker getting eight goals in all competitions for his best scoring season since 2007.
With Johnson again likely to be asked to make his impact from the bench, he’s a good bet in the last goalscorer market at 13/2 and new customers using the free £25 bet they receive when joining bwin.com would net ₤187.50 if he does.
Though Fulham have improved away since winning just once on the road between 2004 and 2007, Swansea will still welcome the visit of a side who’ve scored just three times outside of London this season.
But while this might make the Swans confident of returning to the solidity that’s seen just one visiting player score at the Liberty this season, they’ll also need to up their own strike rate, having recently gone three games without a goal.
That barren run coincided with an injury to top scorer Danny Graham, but Rodgers has indicated that the ex-Watford man will return to the starting line-up this weekend.
With half of his strikes this season being last goals, Graham is certainly worth backing as an alternative at 11/2 to get the final goal of this game.
