Liverpool taking a belated first win of the Premier League season with a 5-2 thumping of Norwich City has restored plenty of confidence on Merseyside and seen hat-trick hero Luis Suarez’s odds of finishing as Premier League top scorer slashed.
The Uruguayan has come in from 20/1 to 8/1 in the golden boot betting market after completely bossing the shell-shocked Canaries defence and repeating the treble he bagged at Carrow Road in the corresponding fixture last term.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers’ plans for his young side will grow more ambitious every week, but things finally seem to be going well for the Anfield club, meaning Suarez is well on course to beat his tally last season of 11 league goals – he now has five to his name already this term.

However, perhaps more sensible than backing a man who has just bagged a hatful against Norwich is supporting one who will face the Canaries this weekend.
Fernando Torres’ odds of being top goalscorer have been trimmed to 7/1 from 8/1 as he pounced to help table-topping Chelsea pinch a win at Arsenal and the prospect of facing Chris Hughton’s men at Stamford Bridge on Saturday offers the Spaniard a chance to move closer to the top of the pack in the golden boot race.
Leading the charge right now is Newcastle’s Demba Ba, who has smashed six goals already this season. A brace at Reading showed that Ba is not only prolific when in form but lucky to boot, with his second strike smashed into the net by a flailing arm.
I wrote recently that the Newcastle striker’s top scorer odds would only go in one direction in his current mood and sure enough, they are now 16/1 instead of 25/1.
Another player who bagged a pair of goals this weekend is Everton’s Nikica Jelavic, with the Croatian now a 20/1 shout to land the golden boot.
His side have started the season in what feels like their richest attacking form for an eternity, although for me, the big target man is best treated as one to watch while Everton aim to prove that they can build on their fine recent form.
