Tottenham might have suffered successive setbacks in the league but their form is still head and shoulders above that of relegation battlers Wigan.
Indeed, despite having dropped five points from their last two matches, Spurs are still fourth in the Premier League form table based on the last six games, with 11 points from a possible 18.
Meanwhile, the Latics only have two draws to show for their efforts from their last six Premier League appearances and have not won a game since December 10th.
As a result, they are languishing at the bottom of the table, four points from safety and huge 27/2 outsiders to take all three points from tomorrow’s trip to White Hart Lane.
This leaves Tottenham as heavy 1/5 favourites for the win in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with the draw at 5/1.
Tottenham’s record of only scoring more than once on a single occasion in their last five league matches at White Hart Lane means a punt on a 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 scoreline in favour of the home side looks a better bet at 3/2.
Wigan have made two trips to play a top-four team this season, with their visits to Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium resulting in 5-0 and 3-0 defeats to Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.
Given Spurs have won five of their last seven home league games to nil, Wigan look set for another fruitless afternoon against a team chasing Champions League football next season.
However, with a Tottenham victory priced at 1/5, a win to nil at 17/20 and a Spurs success with over 2.5 goals at 13/20, punters will need to be a bit more creative in order to score more attractive returns.
One option would be to bet on Spurs to win by at least three clear goals against the league’s second-worst defence at odds of 29/20.
After all, a Wigan defence which has conceded 45 goals in 22 games is up against the top-flight’s third-best attack in Harry Redknapp’s side.
Nevertheless, Tottenham’s record of only scoring more than once on a single occasion in their last five league matches at White Hart Lane means a punt on a 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 scoreline in favour of the home side looks a better bet at 3/2.
A successful £25 free bet on Tottenham to beat Wigan 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 is set to return £62.50, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
Finally, a bet on Jermain Defoe to score at any time could also represent good business at 17/20.
While the diminutive frontman is not guaranteed a start, even if he comes off the bench he will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net given he has scored eight goals in his last nine appearances against the Latics in a Tottenham shirt.
