Tottenham go into their crunch match with Chelsea tomorrow as favourites in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
However, at odds of 31/20 for the win, Spurs are only slightly shorter than the Blues, who are priced at 33/20 to pick up all three points.
That there is little to choose between the sides comes as no surprise given the magnitude of the fixture and the close proximity between the two teams in the Premier League table.
Spurs are in third place ahead of this evening’s fixtures, seven points adrift of leaders Manchester City but with a game in hand.
Chelsea, who have also played a game more than the north Londoners, are just two points behind Tottenham in fourth and could leapfrog them with a win on Thursday.
Failure to do so would surely put the final nail in the coffin of Andre Villas-Boas’ side’s title, chances with their disappointing 1-1 draw with Wigan at the weekend having already undone the good work which saw them beat City last Monday.
Similarly, defeat for Tottenham would, in all likelihood, put an end to their title ambitions, with City’s form suggesting a seven-point gap – which they could open up with a win over Stoke this evening – is too much to overturn.
So with the sides so evenly matched, the draw looks an obvious option at odds of 23/10.
That said, Tottenham’s impressive league form suggests that they could yet be the best bets in bwin’s 3Way result market.
Spurs have won their last six league matches at White Hart Lane, have scored in every Premier League fixture so far this season and have also won two of the last three home games against Chelsea.
Meanwhile, the Blues’ 1-1 draw against Wigan was part of a wider pattern of disappointing away results, with only four wins secured in eight matches on their travels.
This suggests Spurs will have the upper hand, particularly given the apparent availability of Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe, who missed Tottenham’s last match through injury.
Odds of 31/20 on a Spurs victory already look attractive enough, but with five of Tottenham’s seven home games featuring at least three goals, an even better bet could be on Spurs to win a game with over 2.5 goals at odds of 29/10.
A successful £25 free bet on Spurs to win a game with over 2.5 goals would return £97.50, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
But this is not to say that Tottenham will ease to victory.
As Chelsea are in desperate need of three points they are likely to push their opponents close, meaning any winning margin will surely be a narrow one.
This makes a bet on any team to win by a single goal’s difference a good one at odds of 13/10.
