Just five months after signing from Newcastle United, it looks as though Demba Ba might be surplus to requirements at Chelsea – and bwin make Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and West Ham United the favourites to secure his signature.
With new Blues boss Jose Mourinho looking to stamp his authority on his squad, it is thought that Ba will be among the first casualities of the Special One’s cull despite only moving from St James’ Park for £7 million in January.
The Senegal striker scored six goals for Chelsea last term, with just two of those coming in the Premier League, but with a strike record of 36 goals in 68 league games for Newcastle and West Ham, he is sure to be in demand and reports this morning suggest that the Hammers are lining up a move for their former striker.
Boss Sam Allardyce is still looking to tie up a permanent deal for Liverpool’s Andy Carroll as he aims to bolster his strikeforce after the Hammers scored just 45 league goals last season.
And the former Bolton boss has reportedly identified Ba, who struck seven goals in 12 games in the Irons’ unsuccessful fight against relegation in 2011, as the man to help improve their potency.
It has been enough for bwin to make West Ham the 7/1 favourites to re-sign Ba, meaning new customers backing him to return to east London with their free £20 bet will pocket winnings of £160 if the move materialises.
However, Arsenal and Tottenham are just behind in the betting to become the Senegalese striker’s next club this summer.
The north London rivals are also both seeking to enhance their striking options and having both been linked with Ba before his move to Chelsea in the winter transfer window, bwin go 15/2 on each side signing Ba.
Another of Ba’s former sides, Newcastle, are 11/1 to take the striker back, while Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton are both 14/1.
bwin make it a 1/2 chance that Ba is still a Chelsea player come the end of the summer transfer window.
