Southampton’s confident attacking style under Mauricio Pochettino makes them a very attractive proposition at 7/5 to win for the third time already this season away from home.
Norwich City stand in their way from recording that third win in all competitions and although the Canaries only lost four home games last season, Saints’ firepower gives them the edge in the market.
The south coast club have made their best ever start to a Premier League season after two matches whilst Norwich only have picked up one point – a 2-2 draw with Everton on the opening weekend.
A victory on the road against West Bromwich Albion for the Saints was backed up with a solid 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
It was in the Capital One Cup where they showed their true attacking capabilities on the road, firing five past Barnsley in an eye-catching triumph.
Pochettino’s men were the eighth top scorers in the league away from home last term and in Rickie Lambert and new £15m signing Pablo Osvaldo they have strikers who flourish playing away from home.
Osvaldo netted more goals away (14) than at home (13) in his two seasons at Roma in Serie A and eight of Lambert’s last 12 Southampton goals have come away from St Mary’s.
Since taking over the reins, Pochettino has done what the Saints board envisaged when controversially removing Nigel Adkins – taken the club to the next level.
His impact has been instant, both on and off the field. Saints comfortably avoided relegation last season, playing a very easy on the eye style of football.
Under his shrewd guidance, Saints are going to have a fruitful season and Norwich simply don’t possess the required capabilities to counteract the attacking ammunition of Lambert and Osvaldo.
Backing either of them score anytime at 9/5 looks a canny wager.
