After a comfortable win last weekend in Madrid, this week’s Bet of the Day takes us to Norfolk as league leaders Manchester United look to extend their five-match winning streak in the Premier League against a Norwich City side who have confounded their early-season critics to hit a bit of form.
Indeed, the Canaries have enjoyed eye-catching victories over both Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks and while they are naturally massive underdogs against the most successful side in the history of English football (Norwich are offered at 6/1 for the win), they will be feeling a lot better about the match than if it had been at the start of the season.
Although United have gained maximum points from each of their last five Premier League encounters, the victories have not come easily.
Last weekend’s 3-2 win at Aston Villa was the eighth time this season in all competitions that United have come from behind to win and while they are scoring freely, the Reds’ defensive deficiencies are still apparent.
Yet on Saturday evening they should be more than capable of finding the net at Carrow Road and the price of 27/20 for United to score over 2.5 goals looks extremely tempting.
Punters registering with bwin can claim a free £20 bet and placing this on Sir Alex Ferguson’s men to notch at least three times would return £47 if successful.
This bet has paid out on 11 occasions in all competitions this season for United and the price looks generous for a repeat against a newly-promoted side who conceded four goals the last time they came up against top-four opposition (a 4-1 defeat at Chelsea in October).
Furthermore, the Reds have scored three or more goals in four of their’ last five Premier League matches and with the likes of Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez in stunning form (not to mention the ever-present threat posed by Wayne Rooney, fitness permitting), there is every chance that punters will be able to make some healthy profit in backing them to do so again against Norwich on Saturday evening.
