Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has admitted that he would prefer a move away from Ewood Park after growing tired of endlessly battling relegation.
Rovers are 3/1 to go down this year having narrowly escaped the drop last season, meaning a successful £25 free bet on Blackburn to finish in the bottom three this time round, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £100.
However, Samba says he would rather not participate in another basement struggle, preferring instead to try his luck higher up the league.
The 27-year-old might have been playing for a floundering team last season but he appears to have options open to him after catching the eye of some title-chasing clubs.
Arsenal are leading the chase to sign the Congo international, with north London neighbours Tottenham also thought to be interested in securing his services.
While Blackburn manager Steve Kean appeared to shut the door on a potential Samba transfer earlier this week, the defender told L’Equipe that he is still hopeful he will be plying his trade elsewhere come August.
“For four-and-a-half years I have been at Blackburn and fought against relegation,” Samba told the news provider.
“If a good opportunity presents itself, I want to take it. I hope the club will understand if I want to make the step up and not prevent a deal.”
According to Kean, his players would not have to wait long to achieve their ambitions at Blackburn.
The Scot told TalkSport on Wednesday that he was “sure” his side would be in the Champions League in the next three or four years.
Blackburn are an unlikely 100/1 to finish in the top four this season, with odds of 14/1 on them finishing bottom looking like the better bet.
