Tottenham’s strikers are likely to carry the goalscoring burden at White Hart Lane this evening, with neither the Spurs midfield nor Stoke showing much sign of scoring in recent times.
You have to go back to 11th February to find the last time that a Spurs player other than Emmanuel Adebayor, Jermain Defoe or Louis Saha found the back of the net.
Meanwhile, the Potters have scored just nine league goals on their travels all season.
With doubt surrounding the injury-hit Adebayor’s participation taken into consideration, Louis Saha and Jermain Defoe look to be the best bets for a goal this evening, with the Frenchman available at 6/5 and his English counterpart at evens to score at any time.
Both have been on good form in front of goal of late, with Saha scoring three goals in his five league appearances since joining the club from Everton in January and Defoe bagging three goals in his last three games,
This means a successful £25 free bet on Saha to score at any time is set to return £55, while punters can double their money by betting on Defoe.
Both have been on good form in front of goal of late, with Saha scoring three goals in his five league appearances since joining the club from Everton in January and Defoe bagging three goals in his last three games.
Unfortunately for Spurs, the same cannot be said for their celebrated attacking midfielders.
Gareth Bale and Luka Modric haven’t scored for Spurs since they both found the net against Wigan on January 31st, while you have to go back until January 27th to find Rafael van der Vaart’s last goal for the club.
Meanwhile, Aaron Lennon has, admittedly, been injured for much of the last two months but he has still made seven appearances since his last goal, which came at home to Everton on January 11th.
With this in mind, it could also be worth betting on Saha or Defoe to score first (both at 4/1), particularly as the duo have, between them, been responsible for Spurs’ first goal in the last three games in which the north Londoners have scored.
If Stoke are to add to their total of nine goals away from home then look no further than Peter Crouch, who will be making his first appearance at White Hart Lane since his summer move from Spurs to the Potteries.
The England international has seven goals in 23 league appearances for Tony Pulis’ side this season and has come into form of late with three goals in his last five outings.
Crucially, he has a taste for haunting his former clubs having netted for Stoke in their FA Cup defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
And as Stoke’s top scorer, this surely makes him the best bet to score for the Potters at odds of 9/4.
