With only two months to go until the transfer window reopens for the summer, there have been one or two fresh faces in the rumour mill of late, and not before time.
After weeks of the same old Manchester United rumours linking the Red Devils to Borussia Dortmund pair Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan, plus PSV’s Memphis Depay, the Sunday People brings a new name in the form of FC Twente winger Bilal Ould-Chikh.
The 17-year-old has turned out 14 times for his club in the Eredivisie this term, scoring once, and impressed at the recent Euro Under-17 tournament, where he was acclaimed as the Netherlands’ best player.
Ould-Chikh has been likened to Arjen Robben, the Dutch winger who played a starring role under Louis van Gaal at the last World Cup, and almost moved to United prior to joining Chelsea 11 years ago.
Milan and Inter are also said to be admirers of Ould-Chikh, who wouldn’t cost much with only 15 months left on his contract in Enschede.
Chelsea are also thought to be in the market for younger talent, with the Blues said to be closing in on the £4.7m signature of Atletico Paranaense’s 19-year-old playmaker Nathan, according to ESPN Brazil.
Nathan has reportedly been scouted by Jose Mourinho’s side for a while, although the idea that a deal is imminent may be somewhat premature, with the likes of Manchester City also thought keen.
In other transfer news, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku may become a target for Atletico Madrid if out-of-favour forward Mario Mandzukic leaves the Vicente Calderon this summer.
Despite enduing an erratic season on Merseyside, the big Belgian has bagged 18 goals in all competitions for the Toffees since finalising his £28m move from Chelsea last summer, having struck 15 times in the Premier League under Roberto Martinez last season.
Lukaku will be the same money or more if moving on again at the end of term.
