This may be the only day of the year that football clubs get to use their fax machines, but while the bureaucrats get their paperwork in order, some names will definitely not be requiring documentation in triplicate.
Stephan El Shaarawy is NOT going to Manchester City
Reports in Italy suggested that Milan’s El Shaarawy was the mystery man Manuel Pellegrini was enigmatically referring to on Match of the Day when he slyly referred to buying “one more player.”
“The Pharaoh” was benched yesterday for Milan’s 3-1 win over Cagliari.
However, the player’s agent has responded to talk of a £25 million switch to the Citizens with the comment, “Not true. He is in Milan. He stays in Milan.”
Daniele De Rossi is NOT going to Manchester United
Manchester United apparently bid £12 million for De Rossi on Friday in an attempt to begin their summer purchases, but were wasting their time, according to Roma’s general manager Mauro Baldissoni, who said, ‘The club doesn’t intend to accept offers for Daniele and he has no intention of leaving us.”
One-club man De Rossi – “an integral part of Roma’s history”, according to Baldissoni – will instead be adding to his 308 appearances for the Giallorossi.
Emmanuel Adebayor will NOT be going to Schalke
Although Spurs are eager to create some more space on their very crowded team bus, no seat will be freed up by shipping Adebayor to Schalke.
The Bundesliga side has made a lukewarm start to the season, need goals, and like the look of the Togolese Tottenham front-man.
However, they claim they are unable to come up with any sort of transfer fee and Spurs are said to be cold to the out-of-the-box thinking that has seen the Germans suggest Tottenham pay half of Adebayor’s immense wages.
