Mark Hughes’ QPR side will be looking to build on last weekend’s positive display against London rivals Chelsea when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
One of the big positives for Hughes will have been the performances of his central midfield duo, with new signing Esteban Granero partnering Alejandro Faurlin to great effect.
Like QPR, Spurs went through major upheaval in the summer, which saw Andre Villas-Boas arrive as manager along with a host of new players.
QPR will take heart from the fact that both West Brom and Norwich have come to White Hart Lane and left with a share of the spoils already this season, with both points earned through 1-1 draws courtesy of late strikes.
The former Porto and Chelsea boss has recruited well following the sale of star player Luka Modric to Real Madrid last month, bringing in the likes of Clint Dempsey, Moussa Dembele and Gylfi Sigurdsson to fill the void that was left by the Croatian.
Spurs head into this game on the back of their fist win of the season last Sunday following a 3-1 victory away at Reading and have been priced as odds-on favourites at 12/25 to see off their west London neighbours.
Rangers are priced at 6/1 to leave with all three points and collect their first victory of the season, while the draw can be backed at a very tempting 3/1 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
The Rs’ form on the road since their promotion back to the top flight the season before last leaves a lot to be desired, their previous victory coming in a 3-2 success at Stoke last November, with the side collecting just three points away from home since.
They will however take heart from the fact that both West Brom and Norwich have come to White Hart Lane and left with a share of the spoils already this season, with both points earned through 1-1 draws courtesy of late strikes.
QPR also showed their ability to mix it with their more illustrious London neighbours last Sunday and took points off Spurs last season. Although they were comfortably beaten 3-1 at the Lane just over a year ago, QPR managed to get their revenge when the two sides met at Loftus Road back in April courtesy of a 1-0 win amidst a sequence of results at home that ultimately kept them up.
It could be argued that Rangers have stronger squads on paper than both West Brom and Norwich so the draw offers superb value at 3/1. It could also be worth looking at the 1-1 scoreline which served the Baggies and Canaries so well at 6/1.
Backing both sides to score in the game at 7/10 is also worth a punt given the fact that Spurs have conceded in each of their four league games so far, all coming in the second-half, while Rangers haven’t kept a clean sheet on their travels since a 3-0 victory at Wolves last September.
Finally, with three goals in his opening four games, including a double at Reading last weekend, England international Jermaine Defoe is in fine form for Tottenham, and is certainly worth considering in the first goalscorer market at an attractive 7/2.
Tottenham to draw with QPR @ 3/1
Both teams to score @ 7/10
