Borussia Dortmund stars constantly find themselves the subject of gossip columns, with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal rumoured to be interested.
The BVB could find themselves stripped of their best assets, with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan often linked with moves, but it is another Bundesliga club that Premier League sides should turn to if they want to get a good deal.
Bayer Leverkusen are currently eighth in the German top-flight, but have a number of talented players in their squad.
Thus, luring stars away from the BayArena would be a much easier task than getting those from Signal Iduna Park.
Borussia look almost certain to guarantee a place in the Champions League this season, while Bayer would be very lucky to get any type of European football.
This will surely make it more tempting for top players to leave, while also driving down their price tag.
Aubameyang is reportedly going to cost north of £60m, while bringing in either of Reus and Gundogan for less than £40m is unlikely.
Conversely, paying over £20m for any of Leverkusen’s players seems improbable and bringing in a cost-effective spine of players would be beneficial for either Man Utd or Liverpool.
According to Bild, the German equivalent of The Sun, the three players being planned in the Bayer raid are Omer Toprak, Hakan Calhanoglu and Karim Bellarabi.
Toprak is a 26-year-old defender and vice-captain of the club, the Turkish international is an integral part of the team’s backline and the club have kept three clean sheets in his last six outings.
His compatriot Calhanoglu is a 22-year-old midfielder and is seen as one of the most promising young stars in the Bundesliga.
The former HSV player cost his employers over £10m when they brought him to the BayArena when he was only 20 and he has repaid this investment with 11 goals and 10 assists in two league seasons with Leverkusen.
Finally, Bellarabi is a 25-year-old striker who has already been capped 10 times by Germany and he has found the net four times in his last six games across all competitions for Bayer.
