Last season: 5th
FA Cup: 4th Round
Carling Cup: 3rd Round
Champions League: Quarter Finals
Opening three fixtures: Everton (h), Man Utd (a), Man City (h)
Title odds: 40/1
It is 50 years since the north Londoners were crowned champions and that does not look like changing any time soon. All the talk at White Hart Lane this summer has been of departures rather than arrivals, and although Harry Redknapp has said he would like to try and win the title with Spurs, they are a long way off managing a serious challenge.
Finishing in top four odds: 7/2
Last season saw Spurs sizzle in the Champions League, but fail to qualify for the tournament again. This time out gaining entry to Europe’s elite competition will be even tougher. The top four have all added players to their squad, while Liverpool have spent close to £100 million since January, leaving the Merseysiders at 17/20 with bwin to finish above Tottenham.
It looks like Tottenham supporters might be once again reduced to hoping for a good cup run from their season and they are 12/1 with bwin for the FA Cup. Optimistic fans might be tempted by the 9/1 offered on Spurs to win the title without Manchester United or Chelsea, but realistically they will do well to stay with the top four over the course of the season.
