Rival clubs have started to circle around Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy, with the Arsenal duo having moved closer to moves away from the Emirates Stadium in the last 24 hours.
Fabregas has long been courted by Barcelona and was the subject of a £35 million approach this time last year.
The Catalan giants have renewed the chase this summer, although until now they have not translated their interest into a concrete offer.
This has changed in the last 24 hours, however, with Barca said to have made a verbal offer of £27 million to the Gunners for their former academy star.
Arsenal immediately turned the bid down and, while Barca are expected to come back with a renewed bid, the disparity between the two clubs’ valuation of Fabregas suggests a deal is still some way from being completed.
Nevertheless, Barcelona’s renewed determination to sign the midfielder suggests Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will soon be planning a title tilt without his influential captain.
The Gunners are bwin’s 6/1 fourth-favourites to win the Premier League, meaning a successful £25 free bet on Arsenal to finish first, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £175.
Meanwhile, Clichy has attracted the interest of both Roma and Liverpool.
The left back has a year left to run on his contract and Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for the player after talks about a new deal stalled.
While Roma are apparently willing to offer more for the Frenchman, Clichy’s preferred destination is Liverpool and, according to the Sun, he is ready to try and force through a move to Anfield despite the prospect of higher wages in the Italian capital.
