When Cardiff’s team bus turns onto Carrow Road ahead of their game with Norwich, they’ll notice that the fortress that once stood as the pride of the city is crumbling.
The visitors are 23/10 to take a few more bricks out of Norwich’s stronghold with the draw afforded the same odds and the hosts a 15/13 shot.
However, given the Canaries’ downturn in home form, it is the away side that should be backed to succeed.
Norwich have won just once at home in the league so far
In their two seasons in the Premier League thus far, Delia Smith’s club have survived off the back of their home form.
In their first campaign back in the big time they lost just six games at Carrow Road, four of which were to the eventual top four. Then, last season, they bettered that home stand by losing just four times.
They are already halfway to matching that number this time around and have managed to win only once in four attempts.
The Canaries have fallen behind in five of their eight league games
Norwich have been friendly opposition so far this term, allowing their rivals to score the first goal of the game in five of their eight games this season.
Their lack of firepower – only Sunderland and Stoke have scored fewer goals in the league – means that it is very difficult for them to overturn a deficit and weighs heavily in Cardiff’s favour.
Cardiff have won more games on the road in all competitions than at home
The Bluebirds have toppled the albeit inferior Accrington in the Carling Cup as well as Fulham on their travels this season while taking a share of the spoils against Hull.
They also enjoyed their time on the road during their promotion campaign last season, winning 43% of their games away from home.
