Liverpool’s billing as 29/100 favourites to against Norwich suggests they are poised to brush aside the Canaries and claim all three points with something to spare at Anfield on Saturday.
However, the bullish start made by Paul Lambert’s side says differently and while odds of 19/2 for victory accurately depict Norwich’s slim chances of success, odds of 4/1 for the draw could yet hold value.
The Reds were unlucky not to beat fierce rivals Manchester United in their last Anfield appearance but this should not disguise the fact that they have not yet hit top form at home this season.
An opening day draw with Sunderland illustrates this, as does a stuttering 2-1 victory over Wolves on 24 September, while a 3-1 win over Bolton in Liverpool’s only other league game at Anfield is hardly anything to shout about given the Trotters’ early season form.
Add into the mix how close Norwich pushed Manchester United at Old Trafford and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Saturday’s clash may not be the mismatch bwin’s 3Way football betting market suggests it will be.
This makes odds of 4/1 on the draw look long and worth taking advantage of.
A successful £25 free bet on Norwich to hold Liverpool to a draw would return £125, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
With Norwich having hit the back of the net in six of their last seven away games, including against Chelsea, a scoring draw looks the best option and the Canaries are priced at 91/100 to grab at least one goal.
And as three out of the four matches played at Anfield this season have contained fewer than 3.5 goals, the best bet could be on the game to end 1-1 at odds of 33/4.
Those looking for a safer bet could play on Norwich’s tendency to make a fast start, with seven of the ten goals they have scored coming before the interval.
With this in mind, punters could double their money by betting on Norwich to be either ahead or level at half time at odds of evens in the double chance market.
