The Daily Telegraph has described Tim Sherwood’s appointment as the next permanent QPR manager as “inevitable” in the last few hours.
Reading back through the outspoken former Spurs manager’s quotes he certainly seems to have made his position on several issues relevant to the job clear.
Just 1/5 to succeed Harry Redknapp, Sherwood recently had the following searing insight to offer on the Super Hoops’ current malaise:
“Not winning away from home is not great.
“They [QPR] need to pick up some points there if they are going to stay in the league.”
Indeed, Sherwood has offered clues as to his thoughts on far more than just on-pitch matters at Loftus Road in the past.
For instance a bristly quote from his time at White Hart Lane seems especially portentous in light of Glenn Hoddle’s departure from the QPR coaching staff:
“Glenn’s got a lot of opinion and he’s also got a lot of opinion about Tottenham, and he’s entitled to that.
“It’s been a long time since Glenn Hoddle’s managed a football team and the game has moved on significantly.”
However, perhaps most pertinent in light of his overwhelming favouritism in the market to take over the Loftus Road hotseat were his words on taking over a team mid-campaign:
“People will always judge on what I’ve come in and done.
“It’s imperative to have a pre-season and bed your ideas in.”
One player that may not be pleased to see Sherwood’s name is Brazilian midfielder Sandro, who was involved in a tawdry twitter-started spat at Tottenham last term.
‘The Beast’ was reportedly left out against Fulham through injury but reacted by tweeting:
“Good morning guys, just to let you know I’m not injured!”
Sherwood responded with following Match of the Day aired burn:
“He’s not injured, and he’s fit to play, but he’s not selected because he’s not up to it at the moment ahead of other people.”
