Marouane Fellaini is odds-on with bwin to join Arsenal this summer amid reports that the Gunners will beat Manchester United and Chelsea to his signature now that Everton have identified a replacement for their record signing.
It has long been thought that following the departure of manager David Moyes to United at the end of last season that Fellaini, who became the most expensive player in Everton’s history when he was bought from Standard Liege for £15 million in 2008, would follow the Scot out of Goodison Park this summer – predominantly thanks to the minimum fee release clause written into the improved contract he signed in 2011.
And with that fee reported to be around £24 million, there is little that Blues chairman Bill Kenwright can do to stop another club nabbing Everton’s top scorer, who hit 12 league goals to help the Toffees to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League last term.
But amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, it has been reported that new Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been looking at possible replacements and has identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Clement Chantome as the man to step into the Belgian international’s boots if he leaves the club.
Interestingly, with that clause thought to expire in mid-August to help Everton avoid the situation of two summers ago when Arsenal were able to buy Mikel Arteta on the last day of the transfer window, it could be that Fellaini is on his way sooner rather than later and it is still thought to be the Gunners leading the chase, with bwin going 83/100 that he makes the move to the Emirates before September 4th.
Manchester United are 9/4 to reunite Fellaini with his old boss Moyes, and he is 8/1 to go to Chelsea.
bwin are 7/5 that Everton keep hold of their midfield man, while Fellaini is 25/1 and higher to sign for any other club.
