Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off sees West Ham United take on Manchester United at Upton Park in a game crucial to both sides but for entirely different reasons.
The Hammers are in the middle of a relegation dogfight and are priced at 7/4 to drop down to the Championship.
At the other end of the table, the Red Devils are chasing a record-breaking 19th top-flight title and sit at the summit of the Premier League table.
As such, the Manchester side are 3/4 favourites to win the game, with West Ham priced at 67/20 to record a home win.
However, recent form suggests Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will not have it all their own way at the Boleyn Ground.
Manchester United have been far from convincing on the road this season, picking up three points just four times in 15 matches.
More worryingly, they have lost three of their last four matches away from Old Trafford, including at Molineux, home of West Ham’s relegation rivals Wolves.
On the other side of the coin, Avram Grant’s West Ham have been on a good run of late and are sixth in the Premier League form table.
In their last six league games, the Hammers have only been beaten once – against Birmingham City – while wins have been picked up against Blackpool, Liverpool and Stoke.
Allayed to this is the fact that West Ham beat Manchester United 4-0 in a Carling Cup tie earlier this season.
With Ferguson unable to call on a number of key defenders – including first-choice centre back Rio Ferdinand, Rafael da Silva and John O’Shea – and West Ham having scored six goals in their last two home games, an upset could be on the cards.
A successful £10 bet on West Ham to beat Manchester United 2-1 at bwin would return £130.
That said, the league leaders have had their attacking options boosted in recent weeks.
Antonio Valencia has re-emerged from the treatment room, Nani returned earlier than expected following the gashed leg he sustained against Liverpool and Wayne Rooney is edging ever closer to rediscovering his form.
With this in mind, a punt on Manchester United to beat West Ham 3-1 could be a good bet at 23/2.
