Are Manchester City really about to make a move for former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo?
According to reports today the answer is yes, but bwin don’t seem to fancy their chances and it is still strong odds-on that the Portuguese winger stays at Real Madrid for the 2013/14 season.
All summer long Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu, where he has scored an incredible 201 goals in 199 games, after rumours suggested that the forward had grown disenchanted with life in the Spanish capital thanks to a lack of success.
Just two trophies in four years was not the return Ronaldo expected upon his world record £80 million move from Manchester United, but despite this it had seemed CR7 would remain at Madrid.
Ronaldo said as much himself last month: “Now my life is in Spain. I am enjoying playing there too. Part of my life is [in England], but in the future we never know. I am really, really happy in the Spanish league.”
But that hasn’t stopped fresh rumours about his future today, with reports suggesting that Man City are prepared to blow their neighbours out of the water should the Portugal forward become available.
It has been claimed that City’s top brass, chief executive Ferran Soriano and football director Txiki Begiristain, have made it clear they will do what it takes to get Ronaldo to the Etihad, but bwin are having none of it, quoting odds of 33/1 that the man who won three Premier League titles with City’s main rivals joins the blue half of Manchester.
In other words, new customers backing the move to happen with their free £20 bet would pocket a whopping £680 in winnings should it materalise in this transfer window.
United are 3/1 to re-sign their former talisman, but bwin reckon he will still be at Madrid come September 4th and offer odds of 3/25 on that outcome.
It is 11/1 and bigger Ronaldo moves elsewhere this summer.
