Manchester United are the 17/10 favourites to sign Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and complete what would be the most incredible move of the summer transfer window.
With a report in the Sun this morning suggesting that the world’s most expensive player will again be on the move in the close season, speculation has been rife that Sir Alex Ferguson is plotting a sensational return for the Portuguese superstar.
If the mutual appreciation on show when United met Madrid in the Champions League this season (when Ferguson spoke highly of his former player and Ronaldo refused to celebrate his goals) is anything to go by, both player and club still hold a deep affection for each other and it is feasible he could be reunited with the team where he won three Premier League titles and a Champions League.
But of course, should Ronaldo become available there will be inevitable interest for a man who has scored 31 goals in 31 La Liga games this term and big-spending Paris Saint-German are 11/5 to persuade the former Sporting Lisbon star to follow in the footsteps of David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and move to the French capital.
If you think that Ronaldo could pull on the shirt of another English club, he is 22/1 to sign for Chelsea – with Jose Mourinho? – and 33/1 to sign for United’s arch rivals Manchester City.
Bayern Munich are also 33/1 to sign Ronaldo, while bwin go 66/1 he crosses El Clasico divide and joins Barcelona.
And if you don’t believe any of the reports and think that CR7 will be still be at the Bernabeu come 1st September, you can back that outcome at 1/2.
