Manchester City are bwin.com’s new favourites for the Premier League title after their 6-1 win at Old Trafford in the Manchester derby.
Going into the game on Sunday, it was reigning champions Manchester United who were favourites to retain their crown at 21/20. Indeed, they were odds-on for the title at the beginning of the month.
However, City, who started yesterday as 2/1 second-favourites to win the Premier League for the first time, have seen their odds slashed after equalling the biggest margin of victory in the Manchester derby and inflicting a record Premier League defeat on their adversaries.
The Citizens are now evens-favourites to land their first top-flight crown since 1968, with United odds drifting to 7/4.
This means that a successful £25 free bet on Man City finishing first would return £50 rather than the £75 available before the weekend, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
Conversely, a £25 free bet on United to win the Premier League now looks more tempting, with potential winnings of £68.75 on offer for those who back the Red Devils and they go on to claim their 13th Premier League title.
Meanwhile, Chelsea title odds have also been lengthened following the weekend’s action.
The Blues are still third-favourites but their price has drifted to 7/2 from 3/1 after a 1-0 loss to QPR at Loftus Road on Sunday.
Andre Villas Boas’ side are now six points behind City after nine games, although they are just a point adrift of United.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s failure to beat Norwich means their title odds have moved out to 40/1 from 28/1 and Arsenal are the new fifth-favourites after Tottenham’s chances of finishing first were seen to reduce despite a weekend win over Blackburn.
Arsenal’s title odds remain at 50/1 while Tottenham’s are now 54/1.
