Free-scoring Manchester City are this weekend’s home bankers in bwin’s 3Way football betting market with odds of 4/25 to beat Wigan at the Etihad Stadium.
Wigan might be undefeated so far this season but Roberto Martinez’s men have not yet come up against a team of the calibre of last season’s FA Cup winners.
The Latics have played the teams promoted to the Premier League from the Championship last season in their opening three fixtures, recording draws against Norwich and Swansea and a 2-0 win over QPR.
Meanwhile, the Citizens’ early-season form has caused something of a stir, with a more adventurous style of play bringing immediate rewards in the shape of a 4-0 win over Swansea, a 3-2 success over Bolton and a 5-1 drubbing of Spurs at White Hart Lane.
With City in such good form, a Wigan team which only narrowly avoided relegation in the last campaign appears to have little hope of getting anything out of the fixture.
As such, odds on a draw (25/4) or Wigan win (13/1) should probably be avoided, as should the double chance odds of 9/2 on a draw or Latics victory.
Instead, punters should look to Manchester City winning without conceding a goal at odds of 13/20, which would see a £25 stake return £41.25 if it came off.
This is based on the fact that the Citizens have won four of their last five games against their opponents on Saturday without conceding.
That said, Man City’s attacking potency also means there are likely to be plenty of goals in the game – even if they are all scored at the Wigan end.
With Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero in fine form and an average of four goals scored by City in each of their league games so far, a bet on the Citizens to win and there to be more than 3.5 goals in the game looks a banker at 27/20.
Alternatively, punters could opt for a 4-0, 5-0 or 6-0 scoreline in favour of City at odds of 15/4.
A successful £25 free bet on Man City to win 4-0, 5-0 or 6-0 would return £118.75, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
