Over the past couple of seasons, few Premier League match-ups have been as consistently entertaining as Liverpool v Swansea.
The last five editions of the Jonjo Shelvey derby have witnessed a total of 24 goals, with all but one of those matches seeing over 3.5 net-ripplers.
Those punters who fancy at least four strikes this time around as well can back over 3.5 goals at 12/5, but the smarter bet is that the action will dry up.
Liverpool have surged up the league table of late, with nine wins in their last 11 outings, but while the goals have come easily at home, they’ve been far less prolific on the road.
Each of the Reds past five away matches have seen fewer than three goals, and across the season as a whole, Southampton are the only top-half side to score fewer on the road than Liverpool’s 16.
Their fine winning run has, surprisingly, been based on a fantastic defensive record. Brendan Rodgers’ side have not conceded in any of their last five away games.
Seven of Liverpool’s last eight away games in all competitions have seen fewer than three strikes, and five of their past six anywhere have also followed the trend.
Meanwhile, three of Swansea’s past five home matches have also gone under 2.5 strikes.
The smart bet here is therefore to back under 2.5 goals at 39/50, but there’s more money to be made if you combine that bet with a Liverpool win.
That wager would have landed in four of the Reds’ past five road games and is available at an attractive price of 10/3.
