Yaya Toure has been linked with a move away from Manchester City ever since he caused a fuss over a birthday cake back in 2014.
The midfield man is rumoured to be worried about his position at the Etihad and could be on his way out once Pep Guardiola arrives.
Many are speculating that he would move to China for big money or head to the traditional Premier League retirement home of the MLS.
However, it now appears that the Ivorian star is hoping to stay in the English top-flight.
A source speaking to The Daily Mirror revealed: “Yaya and the family are very happy in the UK, they enjoy living here and see no reason to change.
“Also, Yaya has extended family here including brothers and sisters.”
Many clubs are sure to be on alert after this admission, but one in particular seems like a good fit for the 32-year-old.
Liverpool have enough stature to be an alluring prospect for Toure, while also not requiring the ageing footballer to play too much.
The Reds don’t have a realistic chance of making the top four meaning the Man City man wouldn’t need to put up with the gruelling demands of the Champions League, unless they win the Europa League, and could focus on domestic pursuits.
Furthermore, a move to Anfield would allow him to link up with his brother Kolo and this is sure to be a plus.
Clearly, Yaya wants to be around family and what better way to do so than play for the same side as his sibling?
Similarly, it would allow him to stay in the north west which is clearly going to be another deciding factor in his move.
The Reds have already shown they are willing to pick up City castoffs when they signed James Milner in the summer and bringing in the younger Toure would be beneficial for all parties.
