Liverpool’s continued raids of Southampton are becoming a staple of the transfer window, but Saints fans will be happy to hear they could be in for a reprieve.
It appears that the Reds have found a new club to strip of talented players, with a number of Empoli stars being linked with a move to Anfield.
The Italian outfit have been performing well in Serie A and are occupying a comfortable mid-table place despite their lack of resources.
Piotr Zielenski, on loan from Udinese, and Leandro Paredes, on loan from Roma, have impressed in midfield and are believed to be on the Merseyside club’s radar.
However, they are not the only talents currently plying their trade with the Azzurri and Jurgen Klopp should look to dig deep into the resources at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Riccardo Saponara is another integral cog in the midfield with Zielenski and Paredes and is someone Liverpool should definitely consider.
The attack-minded player leads the Azzurri’s assist charts on nine and has shaken off a tough time at AC Milan to really make a name for himself in Serie A.
At only 24-years-old, the Italian Under 21 international still has his whole career ahead of him and bringing the trio together at Anfield would be a wise move from Klopp, particularly if he is already considering moves for the other two.
Zielenski is a 21-year-old Polish international who has already been capped ten times by his country.
He is highly coveted across Europe, but Liverpool may be able to edge out the competitors if they bring a number of his Empoli teammates across to Merseyside as well.
Meanwhile, Paredes is a 21-year-old Argentinean midfielder who has yet to really impress for his parent club.
However, he has really found a place for himself at the Stadio Carlo Castellani working alongside Saponara and Zielenski meaning picking all three up would bring the best out of each in the trio.
