The revolving doors at both Craven Cottage and the Etihad Stadium may be in dire need of a little oil to keep them from squeaking having been in frequent use in recent years, but one constant that remains is that when these two sides meet, goals are on the menu.
In the previous ten contests between them they have racked up an incredible 38 goals, which averages out at almost four per game.
It would be easy to argue that they cannot keep up that pace, but then Manchester City have hit the back of the net a staggering 15 times in their four Premier League contests to date.
The sides are 37/20 to maintain their hot streak and fire more than 3.5 goals.
Consider also the fact that the team from the blue side of Manchester possess the second and third best scorers in the league in Edin Dzeko (5/1 to score first) and Argentine Sergio Aguero (9/2) then you have a recipe for more of the same.
Another Argentine, Carlos Tevez, is an attractive choice to get himself onto the scoresheet first at 9/2 when you take into account the fact he has found the target on consecutive occasions at Craven Cottage.
However, it is difficult to look past the talents of the home-sick striker’s South American counterpart Aguero.
The summer import from Atletico has already scored more than once in two fixtures this season, making 11/2 for him to bag two or more goals on Sunday an attractive option.
A successful £25 free bet on Aguero to score two or more goals against Fulham stands to return £162.50.
In contrast the only Fulham player with any previous against the Citizens to have survived the player conveyor belt is American Clint Dempsey, although he hasn’t registered in this fixture since 2009 and is cautiously priced at 2/1 to reflect this.
While it would be foolish to discount the Cottagers (11/2 to win outright), especially as the home side has found the net in 17 of these last 18 match-ups, you have to wonder just where their goals are going to come from.
They have just two to show for their efforts in the league this season and the smart money will therefore be on the title contenders. They are heavily odds on at 53/100 and with the talents of Dzeko, Aguero and Tevez it could be a blue moon rising to the top of the table come the final whistle.
