With both sides needing a result to keep in touch with the two Manchester sides, any goal will be crucial when Spurs host Liverpool this Sunday.
One player Kenny Dalglish will hope can make the difference is Dirk Kuyt, who has averaged a goal-a-season against Tottenham since joining Liverpool.
He is 5/2 in bwin’s anytime goalscorer market but with new signing Stewart Downing often forcing Kuyt into a substitute’s role, odds of 9/1 for him to score the last goal also represent good value.
If Kuyt gets the final goal, as he did in 2010, new customers using the £25 free bet they receive when joining bwin would win £250.
Emmanuel Adebayor is another player with an excellent scoring record in Tottenham matches, scoring ten times in 13 games against Spurs before joining them on transfer deadline day.
The Lilywhite faithful will be hoping to cheer an Adebayor goal at the Lane for the first time, and he is 17/10 to score at any time.
The Togo striker grabbed the opening goal on his Spurs debut last weekend and he is 6/1 to do the same against Liverpool.
One issue to consider is Spurs’ form after European fixtures, as they have won just four Premier League games on the weekend following a Champions League or Europa League match in the past three seasons.
If Spurs come into the game tired then punters should back Luis Suarez to take advantage, having scored the first goal in three of Liverpool’s last five.
The Uruguayan is 11/2 to do so again.
With an average of over three goals per game in the last ten league meetings between these sides, it should be a high-scoring affair and bwin is also offering odds on players scoring two or more goals.
Kuyt was the last player to score two in a Liverpool-Tottenham game as he bagged a brace in a 2-0 win at Anfield in 2010.
Odds of 16/1 for repeat performance by Kuyt are worth considering, but more tempting is the 25/2 for Roman Pavlyuchenko to score two goals or more, as he has done on six previous occasions for Spurs.
