Branislav Ivanovic believes a new togetherness at Chelsea could help the Blues land the Premier League title this season.
The west Londoners surrendered their title to Manchester United last time round after finishing second to the Red Devils in the final league table.
They also missed out on Champions League, FA Cup and Carling Cup glory, leading to the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti with a year on his contract still remaining.
With Andre Villas-Boas installed as Ancelotti’s successor, Chelsea’s title odds are 12/5, making them bwin’s second-favourites behind Manchester United.
A successful £25 free bet on the Blues to finish first, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £85.
However, Ivanovic has suggested that Chelsea’s chances could be further enhanced if the Blues eliminate some of the mistakes they made last term.
In his opinion, one of these was a failure to integrate as a team.
“Every time when you don’t win a trophy it is hard and in many ways you want to forget the whole year,” he commented.
“I don’t like to speak about me personally and I think every player’s success can be judged on what the team does.
“You can have a striker who scores 50 goals in one season but if you win nothing it means nothing.
“We have to play more for the team, like a team, to give opportunities to our team-mates.
“We know where we made mistakes and I think we will be better and improve in the new season.”
Villas-Boas is reportedly keen to bring Radamel Falcao with him to Stamford Bridge.
The Columbian striker was a big hit at Villas-Boas’ old club Porto, although he would have to compete with the likes of Fernando Torres, Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge for a place in the starting line-up.
