Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur may yet have Ajax midfield starlet Christian Eriksen in their starting line-up next season after the agent of the Denmark midfielder admitted that his client is still talking to other clubs about a transfer from Amsterdam.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest young properties over the last couple of years, having helped Ajax to two Eredivisie titles and become an integral part of the Danish international setup, playing in Euro 2012.
Clubs from all over the continent have been linked with Eriksen at various times over the last few years, but Liverpool and Tottenham have been constantly touted as suitors of the attacking midfielder.
The Premier League duo have now been given some encouragement that Eriksen could be on the move by comments from agent Martin Schoots, who confirmed that the Ajax man is still in contact “with certain clubs” and that, with just one year left on his deal at the Amsterdam Arena, he could be on the move this summer.
“We are still keeping in touch with certain clubs,” Schoots told Sporten.dk.
“That will always be the case with a player like Christian. At this point, it is hard to tell if it will end up with a transfer.
“He wants Ajax to get money for him and therefore he will extend his contract, in case he does not succeed in finding a new club.”
And bwin price up both Liverpool and Spurs, both of whom are looking for attacking midfield reinforcements, as 6/1 to prise Eriksen away from the Dutch capital.
Borussia Dortmund have also been heavily linked with Eriksen and the Champions League runners-up are the 7/5 favourites to snap up the midfielder, while AC Milan are 11/2.
Eriksen is 17/20 to still be at Ajax come the end of the transfer window, and 11/1 and bigger to sign for other clubs.
