This week’s Premier League fixtures all look like they could be tight affairs, but with struggling Southampton, Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa all on the road, backing respective opponents West Brom, Tottenham and Sunderland to win looks like it could be a shrewd piece of business.
Wigan have an awful record at White Hart Lane, Aston Villa have an awful record away from home and Southampton just have an awful record everywhere, making three home wins look likely.

Tottenham to beat Wigan @ 11/25
These two sides have played each other eight times at White Hart Lane in the Premier League era and Wigan have lost five of them, conceding an average of three goals per game.
Their 9-1 thrashing there in 2009 remains one of the worst defeats in Premier League history and although Emerson Boyce is the only survivor from the starting 11 that day, Roberto Martinez was the manager at the time.
This season, the Latics have lost three out of four on the road, failing to score in half of those matches, and go into Saturday’s game on the back of an embarrassing Capital One Cup exit to Bradford City in midweek.
Jermain Defoe scored five goals for Spurs in that famous 9-1 defeat and has five Premier League and two international goals to his name already this campaign. With Gareth Bale also in fine goalscoring form, Spurs should easily outgun Martinez’s inconsistent strugglers again.

Sunderland to beat Aston Villa @ 19/20
Aston Villa have picked up just one point from a possible 15 on their travels this season, losing four, drawing one and scoring just twice.
Paul Lambert’s men have fallen to odds of just 2/1 to be relegated at the end of the season following five league games without a victory.
On Saturday, they travel to a stadium where they have failed to score on their last two visits and face a side who are unbeaten there this campaign in the Premier League.
Martin O’Neill will be demanding a response from his Sunderland players after the midweek Capital One Cup defeat by Middlesbrough and Villa could well leave Wearside empty-handed.

West Brom to beat Southampton @ 7/10
Struggling Southampton are now odds-on favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season, priced at 13/20, following a poor start that has seen them lose seven of their opening nine matches so far.
They have lost all four of their away matches in the league, conceding a shocking average of four goals per game, and on Tuesday, their second string was emphatically dumped out of the Capital One Cup at Leeds.
West Brom, on the other hand, have won four out of five at the Hawthorns, with their only defeat coming at the hands of champions Manchester City. They average two goals per game on home turf and haven’t lost to the Saints there since 1984.
Another home triumph looks the only logical outcome in this one.
