This week’s fixture list is not sympathetic to us Home Heroes hunters, with a lot of close match-ups and big guns playing away. Nevertheless, backing Manchester United, Sunderland and Norwich to see off Aston Villa, Reading and Everton respectively will offer a cracking return and is well worth taking a punt on.
United’s clash with struggling Villa is the most obvious home banker on the card this weekend, while the Canaries face the worst travellers in the Premier League and the Black Cats’ win at Newcastle last weekend suddenly makes them attractive options on the coupon again, despite the form guide suggesting otherwise.

Man Utd to beat Aston Villa @ 11/50
United now require just six points to guarantee the Premier League title, and they shouldn’t make any mistakes in this one.
The champions-elect are experts at swatting aside the so-called lesser lights at Old Trafford and this month’s defeat to rivals Manchester City was only their second home league defeat of the campaign.
Villa are in desperate need of points and they will take heart from the fact that both of United’s home reverses this season have come on a Monday night, but they have lost their last four in a row against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men and haven’t left Old Trafford with any points since December 2009.
Expect the Reds to take another step towards the title with a straightforward victory.
Norwich to beat Reading @ 67/100
Bottom club Reading are teetering on the brink of demotion and will be all but relegated if they fail to beat Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday, but that desperation for a victory could prove to be their downfall.
With just one away win and 13 defeats to their name all season, opening up and attacking on the road could prove fatal for Reading against a Norwich side who have picked up six of their seven victories this season at Carrow Road.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last six home matches, having avoided league defeat there in the whole of 2013 so far, and will be confident of picking off the vulnerable visitors as they stage their last hurrah.
Back a ruthless home win in this one.
Sunderland to beat Everton @ 23/10
Sunderland’s brilliant 3-0 win over Newcastle last Sunday set the bar high for Paolo Di Canio’s side, and it will need to stay high as, on Saturday, they host a powerful Everton outfit who are still chasing a Champions League place.
All the form guides will suggest that the visitors should have this one sewn up. The Toffees are unbeaten on the road since February and haven’t lost to Sunderland since December 2001, but something about the Black Cats’ win on Tyneside last week makes me edge towards them.
Di Canio’s side looked confident, flamboyant and clinical as they dismantled their north-east rivals and they will know that a win at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, while many of their relegation rivals square off against each other, would be a huge step to safety.
At odds of 23/10, putting this one on your Home Heroes banker treble could be viewed as a risk, but it will pay off handsomely if you have the nerve to trust Di Canio’s resurgent troops.
