Shaun Maloney’s last-gasp leveller for Wigan at Loftus Road last Sunday left Harry Redknapp looking genuinely close to tears and more deflated than a beach ball in the Antarctic.
While he won’t admit it publicly, his demeanour suggested that he might finally have given up hope in QPR’s battle against relegation.
That is a feeling which is bound to be shared by his shattered players, who have to pick themselves up for a must-win trip to Goodison Park. But with just two away wins to their name all season, that scenario looks unlikely.
David Moyes’ side have lost just one league match on home turf all campaign and have won four of their last five on their own patch in all competitions.
They came within a few minutes of defeating high-flying Spurs at White Hart Lane in their last match and will be confident of disposing of the league’s whipping boys fairly comfortably on Saturday.

Southampton to beat West Ham @ 4/5
Southampton are currently enjoying their best run all season having won their last three games in a row, including home triumphs over both Liverpool and Chelsea.
On Saturday they face a West Ham side who have picked up just four points on their travels in the whole of 2013 and who have won just three away games all season.
Furthermore, the Hammers haven’t won away at Southampton since November 2000, losing two and drawing one of the three meetings since then.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are flying right now and they should have too much for Sam Allardyce’s travel-sick troops.
