They might be third-favourites for the drop with odds of 3/2, but QPR odds suggest they can beat Bolton at Loftus Road in their opening fixture of the new Premier League season.
Only Swansea and Norwich have shorter odds than QPR in bwin’s relegation betting market, yet the Hoops are narrow 5/4 favourites to pick up a win against the Trotters.
Owen Coyle’s side are 41/20 to record a win at the first attempt, with a draw priced at 9/4.
Last season’s Championship winners, QPR made Loftus Road something of a fortress in the 2011-12 campaign.
They picked up 49 points from a possible 57, losing only two games out of 19, making theirs the second-best home record in the league behind Swansea.
With only 15 goals conceded in this run, a bet on QPR to keep a clean sheet at odds of 8/5 could pay off.
This looks a particularly attractive bet when Bolton’s loss of Johan Elmander and Daniel Sturridge is taken into account.
Elmander was Bolton’s top-scorer with ten goals last term, while Sturridge scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Trotters, earning him joint-second place in the club’s goalscoring chart.
A successful £25 free bet on Bolton failing to score, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £65.
QPR’s case is strengthened by the fact that Bolton lost their last five Premier League games of the 2011-12 season, with Coyle’s troops proving unable to breach the opposition’s defence in two of their final three away games.
And the final nail in Bolton’s coffin comes with the news that they had the worst away record in the top flight last season, with 1.7 goals per game conceded on average.
As such, the best bet could be on QPR to prevail 2-0 at odds of 19/2.
