QPR’s preparations for the start of the Premier League season continue with a match against Atalanta in Bergamo this evening.
The Hoops are slowly moving through the gears as they plan for life in the top flight of English football, while something similar could be said for their Italian hosts this evening.
Neil Warnock’s side have already played five friendlies this summer, although four of their opponents were never likely to cause the Hoops too many problems.
Before a game against Serie A side Cesesna, QPR notched wins against Harrow Borough, Tavistock, Plymouth Argyle and Bodmin Town.
Cesesna therefore provided a significantly sterner test, as demonstrated by QPR’s 1-0 defeat.
Similarly, Atalanta are likely to offer a more exacting workout than the likes of Tavistock, with the Lombardy side considered 83/100 favourites to win the match in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
A QPR win is priced at 14/5 while a draw is available at odds of 23/10.
The fact that Atalanta are also preparing for life in the top flight after winning their domestic second-tier championship means a punt on QPR to avoid defeat, available at odds of 4/5 in bwin’s double-chance market, could reap dividends.
However, the best bet could be on there to be fewer than 2.5 goals at odds of 83/100.
A successful £25 free bet on there to be no more than two goals in the game, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £45.75.
This betting tip is based on the fact that both Atalanta and QPR had the best defensive records in their leagues last year, conceding an average of just 0.83 and 0.70 goals per match respectively.
