On paper, Norwich v Tottenham looks like it could be an entertaining contest, primarily because of both sides’ tendency to be involved in matches with a high number of goals.
The Canaries have played in eight matches this season in all competitions with four or more goals in them, while Spurs have participated in nine.
Odds of 29/20 are offered on there being more than 3.5 goals at Carrow Road and that is worth some serious consideration.
Bear in mind that Tottenham are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home in the league so far, while Norwich have only failed to score at home on one occasion and that was three-and-a-half months ago.
If goals are on the agenda, then some serious returns can be made in predicting when they are coming, and for me, the bet of the match has to be for there to be goals in the first half.
Take the 9/4 on Holt scoring at any time, which, for a striker with four goals in his last four home games against a side yet to keep a clean sheet on the road, looks like offering some real value.
The price of 5/4 for more than 1.5 goals to be scored in the opening 45 minutes of the game looks extremely hard to turn down, especially when you take into consideration the following statistics.
Four out of Norwich’s last seven games have seen two goals or more scored by the break, while for Tottenham that figure is even higher. Of the last nine league matches involving Harry Redknapp’s side, seven of them have seen two goals or more scored by half-time.
Both sides boast in-form strikers, too, with Norwich’s Grant Holt having scored three goals in his last three games and Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor netting six in six.
As goals look likely in the match we should look to these strikers in the goalscoring market. The 5/1 for Adebayor to open the scoring (which he has done three times so far this season) could appeal, although this price looks a little short.
Instead take the 9/4 on Holt scoring at any time, which, for a striker with four goals in his last four home games against a side yet to keep a clean sheet on the road, looks like offering some real value.
