The games at Norwich and Southampton decided to stay a goal short last week (how spiteful of them), so we now look to the big guns to provide the goals to fire themselves up the table (and us into the money). Manchester City v Queens Park Rangers, Liverpool v Arsenal and Newcastle United v Aston Villa make up this week’s Goals Galore treble.

Over 2.5 goals in Manchester City v QPR @ 7/20
Martin Tyler gave Sky their pre-season soundbite as Sergio Aguero hammered home what could prove to be the most famous goal in Premier League history in this game on the last day of the 2011/12 campaign.
There will be no screaming of the Argentine’s name this Saturday as he is sidelined through injury, but don’t let that put you off throwing this game down on your treble sheet.
It famously featured five goals on May 13th and as City have scored five and conceded four in their two matches so far this season, while the Hoops have conceded six, it would be something of a shock if they didn’t break the 2.5 goals barrier again at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite the signing of Champions League-winning keeper Julio Cesar from Inter Milan, expect the likes of Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez to terrorise a frail-looking Rangers defence, while Djibril Cisse, Bobby Zamora et al will fancy their chances of adding to City’s early-season defensive concerns.
Over 2.5 goals in Liverpool v Arsenal @ 91/100
I know what you’re going to say. Boring, boring Arsenal are back with no Robin van Persie and two nil-nil draws to their name so far.
However, don’t forget that this is the game that brought us a 4-4 draw in recent times and with Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers seemingly willing to assist the opposition in scoring, the Gunners may stand a chance of finding the net this time around.
Despite conceding five goals in two games, the Reds looked dangerous against Man City last Sunday, and with the possible inclusion of Real Madrid loanee Nuri Sahin to assist Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard, the Kop could well be cheering more than once this coming Sunday.
With Lucas Leiva out injured, Rodgers’ side lose a vital cog in breaking up attacks, and so the likes of Santi Cazorla and Mikel Arteta may well have opportunities to find Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, who registered 39 league goals between them last season at their previous clubs.
Over 2.5 goals in Newcastle v Aston Villa @ 3/4
Finally we come to St James’ Park (that’s more like it), where Newcastle will look to pile more misery on the Villans.
The uncertainty with which the Villa defence have started this season (conceding four in two games) is cause for optimism for our treble. And with the ability to call upon Senegalese strike force Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse, who scored 29 Premier League goals between them last season, the home side may well cover the three goals themselves.
However, Paul Lambert’s side did bag a morale-boosting 3-0 win over Tranmere in midweek in the Capital One Cup and with a fit-again Darren Bent on the loose up top, Newcastle’s defenders will have to handle him better than they did Fernando Torres last weekend.
The Geordies were involved in more games over 2.5 goals at home than not in 2011/12 and with both teams looking to bounce back from defeats last week, expect more attacking then defending in this Sunday afternoon kick-off.
