As I said last week, you just knew you could rely on Reading and Arsenal to produce the goals on Monday and boy did they… again. They are both rewarded with a place on this week’s coupon as Wigan Athletic v Arsenal, Manchester City v Reading and Liverpool v Fulham make up my latest treble.
To be fair, there were lots of goals last week, with seven of the ten top-flight fixtures featuring over 2.5 goals, and luckily I successfully identified three of those to land a solid 3/1 winner.
Hopefully the quality attacking (and shocking defending) will continue this weekend, especially in the three games selected below.

Over 2.5 goals in Wigan v Arsenal @ 13/20
The early Saturday kick-off comes at the DW Stadium where Wigan entertain Arsenal. The promise of goals here lies in the statistic that seven of the nine Premier League games at the home of the Latics have featured over 2.5 goals this season.
Roberto Martinez’s side welcome an out-of-sorts Arsenal, whose goalscoring exploits at Reading last week could well be needed again due to a shaky defence that has conceded 22 goals in their last 13 outings in all competitions.
The last four games between the two have seen three or more goals scored and on current form, there is little to suggest the same won’t happen again.

Over 2.5 goals in Man City v Reading @ 3/10
This one almost goes without saying as the champions host the side who currently sit bottom of the league.
Roberto Mancini has Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and possibly Mario Balotelli to choose from to take on a Royals defence that holds the worst record in the top flight, having conceded 36 times in their league 17 games since promotion.
By contrast, City have scored the second most in the league with 33 goals and despite the short odds, it would be a minor miracle if the Citizens didn’t manage to score three themselves in this game.
They have only kept six clean sheets this season and have not enjoyed a shut-out in their last four games in all competitions, so there is also plenty of scope for Reading to help us over the line with a goal of their own.

Over 2.5 goals in Liverpool v Fulham @ 31/50
We finish at Anfield in the Saturday evening fixture and will be banking heavily on Fulham’s record in away games this season. Seven of the Cottagers’ nine Premier League trips have featured over 2.5 goals.
Liverpool’s defence was supposed to be sturdier with the settled back four of Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique, but having conceded twice at West Ham, they leaked three sloppy goals at home to Aston Villa last week.
Fulham have the joint highest record in terms of goal-laden games this season with 57 scored and conceded in their 17 matches, an average of almost 3.5 goals a game.
With the likes of Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard in the opposition, don’t back Martin Jol’s men to keep a clean sheet on Merseyside, even if they may well be good enough to break the shaky Reds rearguard.
