Aston Villa vs Fulham: Villa to get back on track

Kick-off: 1630, 04/04/2021

Stadium: Villa Park

TV: Sky Sports

Fulham’s revival stalled prior to the international break and we expect Aston Villa to add to their relegation worries on Sunday.

The 2-1 defeat at home to Leeds last time out was a third loss in four matches for the Cottagers and means they start the weekend still in the drop zone.

Villa were 3-0 winners at Craven Cottage earlier in the season and are fancied to complete the double at 5/4 as our opening Aston Villa vs Fulham prediction.

A Look At Aston Villa’s Betting Odds

Villa have gone four matches without a win as they struggled to create chances in the absence of injured star man Jack Grealish.

The 2-0 defeat against Tottenham meant they only scored one goal in March and they have failed to score more than one goal in a game since the 3-2 loss at Burnley in late January.

Boss Dean Smith said after the Spurs game: “I thought our play up until the final third was quite good, I thought we started the game, the first 30 minutes, good and they scored against the run of play with their first effort.

“But when you’re having good periods in this league, you’ve got to be creating opportunities and it’s something we were doing earlier in the season and we haven’t done lately.”

The good news is that Grealish returned to first-team training during the international break and could be back in action this weekend.

Even if he is, we expect a low-scoring game and backing ‘no’ in the both teams to score market looks a solid pick at 4/5 in the Aston Villa vs Fulham odds.

Last Villa line-up: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, Luiz, McGinn, Trezeguet, Sanson, Watkins, Traore.

A Look At Fulham’s Betting Odds

Fulham wasted the chance to spend the international break outside the bottom three when they were beaten at home by Leeds.

Joachim Andersen’s first goal for the club made it 1-1 before half-time but they were beaten by a goal in each half from Patrick Bamford and Raphinha.

Boss Scott Parker said: “Like I always say, you can never get too high when you’re winning games and vice versa when you’re losing.

“But at the same time, a performance like tonight we understand that we need to improve and get better, so of course those experiences will always come into play in this moment.

“We’ve given ourselves a real good chance, and we still have a massive chance (of staying up), of course we do. Eight games left now, eight massive games.

“We need to learn from tonight, we need to be very honest with ourselves, because tonight we’ve fallen short in certain areas and we need to come back strong.”

Fulham have been involved in the most draws on their travels (seven) of any Premier League team while only two of their away games have been settled by more than a one-goal margin.

Any team to win by exactly one goal appeals at 5/4 and for a bigger price we’ll add a 1-0 home win at 6/1 to our Aston Villa vs Fulham betting tips.

Last Fulham line-up: Areola, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Aina, Lemina, Reed, Zambo, Cavaleiro, Lookman, Maja.
