Chelsea’s Frank Lampard has goalscoring stats the envy of most Premier League strikers, but his record in London derbies is something else.
He has scored 29 times against capital-based teams that have played Chelsea in the Premier League and is a good bet to add QPR to his list of victims in the first league game between the sides in nearly 15 years.
The England midfielder is priced 19/20 in bwin’s anytime goalscorer market but those looking for better value should back Frank at 9/2 to score the last goal of the game, as he did five times last season.
New customers using the ₤25 free bet they receive when signing up to a bwin account would win ₤137.50 if Lampard claims the final goal.
With Chelsea averaging 2.5 goals a game and QPR conceding six in their last west London derby against Fulham, the smart money is definitely on Andre Villas-Boas’ men getting on the scoresheet.
Daniel Sturridge is 17/20 to score anytime but given his form of six goals in six games, backing him to get two goals or more at 4/1 is the better option.
In the first goalscorer market, Sturridge is again a good bet at 7/2 to strike first as he has twice already this season but the best value is with Florent Malouda who is 6/1 and got the opening goal on seven occasions last season.
Despite QPR being the obvious underdogs and the joint lowest scoring side in the league, they have got players who could cause the three time champions some problems.
Last season’s Championship Player of the Year, Adel Taarabt, has failed to continue that form but remains a mercurial talent and with a point to prove on a big stage it’s worth backing him at 17/10 with bwin to score anytime.
Shaun Wright-Phillips is another player with something to prove against his former side and is 4/1 to get what would be both his first goal for QPR and his first against Chelsea.
