Seven draws in the last ten meetings between West Brom and Bolton suggest the manager of both sides will see their quest to earn all three points end in disappointment at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
But history is not the only pointer towards a draw, with neither side making a particularly strong case for the win.
Odds of evens look good value for another match with under three goals, especially as four of West Brom’s five home games this season have ended this way.
Both teams are struggling near the foot of the table, with West Brom’s 11 points from 11 games putting them 14th in the Premier League, while Bolton are two points worse off in 18th.
And although the Trotters won their last match 5-0 at home to Stoke, the fact they lost three consecutive games after their previous victory – a 3-1 away success over Wigan – means it is too early to label their most recent result a turning point in their season.
So while West Brom boss Roy Hodgson and Bolton counterpart Owen Coyle will be desperate for their teams to earn three points and move away from the relegation zone, the two closely matched teams look set for a draw.
This eventuality is priced at 47/20 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with a West Brom win at 19/20 and an away success for the Trotters at 57/20.
A successful £25 free bet on West Brom to draw with Bolton would return £83.75, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
Meanwhile, the overwhelming number of draws is not the only trend which springs to attention when looking at past results between the two sides.
It is also noticeable that just one of the last ten games has featured more than two goals.

Odds of evens therefore look good value for another match with under three goals, especially as four of West Brom’s five home games this season have ended this way.
With all this in mind, a 1-1 final result could be another good bet at odds of 11/2, with this scoreline being consistent with the earlier tips of a both a draw and under three goals in the match.
